Final Thoughts on this Spring 2018 Trip

Thursday, May 31st – Saturday, June 2nd

Well, we are back home after enjoying two nights at Schodack Island State Park, outside Albany. The campground was lovely, the weather less so. It was humid and rainy! We used this last leg as a chance to catch our breath before arriving home. The nice part about arriving home was that Andy & Linda, my eldest brother and sister-in-law, were home to greet us… and had even cooked dinner! We enjoyed a great visit with them before they headed back to TX several days later! Since they live so far away, these special times together are treats that we look forward to! They had been staying at our house for an extended stay to have a chance to visit with Mom in our absence and escape the TX heat for a bit. Big thanks to Ellen & Wayne for making them feel so welcome in NH and our neighbor, Carol, for the great advice on things to do in our area!

On this trip we traveled through 12 states, crossed into Canada and covered about 4,800 miles in 7 1/2 weeks. A fabulous trip filled with memorable moments… from the various people we met: Johnny & Stacie who we saw in Nashville & Memphis, and hope to see again in TX in the fall; Rick & Deedee whose paths we crossed in Memphis & Dayton and were kind enough to share their family’s connection to the Memphis Belle; Jim & Brigetta in Louisville who we hope to link up with later in June in Boston, and Kenny & Dana in Dayton who let us share their campfire. Not to mention countless other folks who crossed our paths in oh-so-many wonderful ways.

It’s impossible to pick a favorite location… the wild horses at Assateague, the walks on the beach and sunsets at the Outer Banks, the amazing art galleries and mountaintop views in Asheville NC, the music and history of Nashville and Memphis TN, the beauty of the Ohio Amish countryside, the majestic Niagara Falls not to mention the beauty of the Falls at Letchworth State Park in NY. All are unique and glorious in their own way. The more you see, the more you realize there is to see… both in the USA and beyond.

It’s also equally impossible to travel for almost 8 weeks and not encounter some trials and tribulations… whether it’s Kya’s health issues and repeated calls to the vet (thankfully she’s doing fairly well now), some issues with the RV (luckily I have a handy hubby who can fix most things himself), and some campgrounds that may not have been our favorites or parking spots that may have been a chore to get into!

We are beyond grateful for the opportunity of being able to travel for a few months and live in comfort in our tiny home. Now we’re looking forward to being home for the summer! We’ll re-connect with friends, spend time with Mom, enjoy summer in New England, and plan for another 8-week trip in the fall. It will be different for me to be home… and not working. Sweeeeeet!  Gary’s been partially retired for a little while now so it won’t be quite so different for him. Although he did almost faint this morning when I volunteered to go to the grocery store with him! Usually I avoid it like the plague!

We look forward to seeing many of you over the summer! And we hope you all enjoy your own bliss this summer… whatever brings you pleasure… whether it’s get togethers with friends, lounging on a deck with a favorite book, a walk on the beach, listening to a summer concert, watching a Red Sox game, fishing, boating, or traveling to your favorite local spot or distant shore! Much love to you all. Thank you for reading one or more of these posts or viewing one or more of these pictures! Your comments and emails have been a real joy to receive while we’ve been away! We are blessed you’re all in our lives. xoxo

What a great trip!! So many great places, many of which we have visited, but not in a camper. You both know how to enjoy life and I hope you keep doing so for many years to come! Looking forward to your next adventure.
