Wed., Nov. 3, 2021 thru Thurs., Nov. 4, 2021
Wed. morning (11/3) we left Huntington Beach State Park and traveled 216 miles south to arrive at Skidaway Island State Park in Savannah, GA. It was a pretty ride mostly on US 17 before getting on I-95 for the last 50 miles. This is a gorgeous state park which we’ve stayed at on previous occasions when in this area. Tonight is the last night for the six of us to be together before Pearl & Marti head for home tomorrow. After having dinner in our respective tiny homes, we convened over at Cheryl & Joe’s for one last campfire before Pearl & Marti peel away from us tomorrow. The girls enjoyed a bikini shot (thanks to Cheryl) while the guys had brandy. We spent several hours laughing and chatting. Then said our goodbyes to Pearl & Marti before we see them again in San Antonio in February!
We’re only here for two nights so on Thursday Gary & I opted not to go into Savannah. We’ve visited that beautiful city on several occasions and wanted to have the opportunity to explore the state park more this time.
We had a morning of getting caught up on some phone calls and blog writing, and then walked the 3-mile Big Ferry Trail loop in the afternoon. Lovely trail through woods with water views, board walks, and an observation tower. Plus we saw remnants of some Earth Works and a liquor still. Later in the day we enjoyed adult beverages with Cheryl & Joe.
Tomorrow we move on to our five weeks in Florida. First stop: St. Augustine!
Nice, have to try it! Are you going to the Alligator farm to check out the birds in st Augustine?
Hi Diane, you would love Skidaway! It’s a great state park! We had done the Alligator Farm years ago when we were in St. Augustine. We did some other things while we were there this time. That’ll be in the next post! lol.
