THUR., JAN 11 thru WED., JAN 17, 2024

We left tornado damaged Panama City and traveled 135 miles west… passing by Eglin AFB and Gulf Islands National Seashore where the white sand dunes looked like snow to us. We arrived at Gulf Breeze RV Resort in Gulf Shores, Alabama on Thurs., Jan. 11th (2024). We were glad to leave Panama City behind, but felt so badly for those who now have to rebuild their homes and businesses.

The positive side of changing our plans and coming to Gulf Shores is that we get to spend time with full-time NH camping friends Lisa & Paul who winter here. Friday night we joined them for Karoke at the campground. Paul was the only one of our group brave enough to perform a song with a friend, and that was due to some arm twisting by that same friend. A fun time! Cheryl & Joe were getting over being ill so took a raincheck.

On Saturday, Jan. 13th (2024) we visited the Wharf with Lisa & Paul, a beautiful area with shops, restaurants, a marina, boats, a man-made pond and a nightly light show. We enjoyed walking around and a fun “linner” at YoHo Rum & Tacos… with margaritas in hand, of course.

On Sunday we headed to one of the public beaches for several hours with Lisa, Paul, Cheryl & Joe. So great to visit outside on a beautiful day. We’re all from NH and all full-time RVers so lots to talk about!

The next couple of days were spent working on travel routes, a blog post, connecting with friends via phone, and I even practiced yoga in our tiny home a couple of times. Then Wednesday, Jan. 17th (2024), our last day in Gulf Shores, we had one last outing with Lisa, Paul, Cheryl & Joe and visited Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach. We’ve spent time in Gulf Shores previously but did not know about this gem! It’s a beautiful art gallery located on four acres of waterfront property with walking paths offering stunning views of Wolf Bay. The Center also has a Hot Shop, Ceramic and Stained Glass Studios, and a gift shop. As if that’s not enough, it’s also a wedding venue. Just gorgeous!! Afterwards we headed to Cosmos for a final dinner with our Gulf Shores Pod. Cheryl & I had to order a Bushwacker. It’s THE drink in Gulf Shores. The Firecracker Shrimp is another specialty and was delicious. Hopefully it won’t be too long before we can catch up with Lisa & Paul again. We adore these two!!

Tomorrow we move on to Montgomery, Alabama.
